Applying to UPenn: Transfer student help

Hello everyone,

I'm currently a freshmen at a university & I want to transfer to UPenn's CAS (2015). I would love for some tips or advice so that I can be a strong candidate in my application. I'd also like to add that I don't have an amazing high school background and I'm not sure if it'll hurt my chances?

Thank you for your time & help! :)

Very hard to transfer.
Each year approximately 200 students transfer into Penn’s four undergraduate schools, selected from about 2,000 applicants.

If you are a transfer student, I recommend that you contact the department you want to transfer to as soon as possible. They can both help you figure out your chances, and also you can see if they are right for you.

Schools are wary of students transferring after freshman year, the usual time is after sophomore year. It does depend on where you are transferring from as well.

I was accepted to Cornell as a transfer but rejected by Penn. Penn along other schools, want numbers. Get a 4.0 in your current college, have over a 2250 sat, and the rest will come down to essays. There is no soft secret. They have statistics, they want numbers.

@transfer9858 Statistics matter, obviously. But there are other important factors. Acceptance is not solely determined by numbers. Professor recommendation letters and essays also matter.
