I'm applying to UT right now with a 3.71 gpa and exactly 30 credits. I want to get a business degree, but unfortunately I have yet to take the required calculus sequence, so I don't think I should even put Mccomb's as a first or second choice. My second choice would be Engineering, but again they require Calculus 1. Is it possible for me to still apply to engineering and communicate to them that I intend to take Cal over the Summer?

Also, I don't really have any interest in a degree from COLA. But, how risky would it be for me to get into COLA with the intention to do an internal transfer into the business school? How doable is this? What is the average GPA of internal transfers to Mccombs or Cockrell? Thanks and sorry for all the questions.

Ok so when I applied last year they required Calc 1 and Calc 2 in a 3 part series to be done. I applied with Calc 1 in the spring and let them know I would be taking Calc 2 over the summer. They let me app anyway and I was accepted to Cockrell. McCombs internal transfer gpa is 3.4-3.6 depending on the year external is about 3.9 every year. Cockrell for external transfer runs close to a 3.8 average and I haven’t been able to find internal transfer data for them.

Did you contact the engineering dept or just talk to admissions about it?

Just talked to admissions.

Internal transfer GPA for Cockrell depends on the major.

[Internal Transfer Historical Summary - Cockrell School of Engineering](<a href=“Undergraduate Education”>Undergraduate Education)

“Internal transfer GPA for Cockrell depends on the major.”

Wow! That should be cake. Thanks for that btw

Oh I did forget. If you talk to the first person who picks up the phone at the admissions office they may tell you that you have to have all of it completed before you apply. If you push further and actually talk I think they said their title was senior admissions counseler you will find that the rule states you must have the courses completed prior to enrolling at UT. Make sure the summer courses show up as in progress when you give them your Spring Transcripts.
