Applying To W&M With No Prior Contact

Since W&M Admissions is on here answering questions, and I'm sure this is not just me, I thought I'd toss this question out - Does having no contact with W&M before sending in an application significantly hurt your chances?

There are colleges where this is deadly, while others think nothing of it. Which is W&M?

I don't want to turn this into a chances thread, so I'll just a D's stats are within the W&M range, and her coursework probably exceeds what is expected. But out of all the colleges on her list, W&M is the one we never got to visit due to it being just too far from the others. On paper, it looks right, but there have been no visits of admin people to our part of the country, so we've never actually gotten to talk to anyone live. Since we never got to visit, other schools will be her ED1 and ED2 choices. But if those fall through, nothing else is a lock, and W&M becomes a viable option. But if we send in an application out of the blue, what happens? Or is there something she should do before sending in an RD application?

@MrMom62, we do not track interest so a student is welcome to apply without visits or contacting our office and their chances will in no way be diminished.

Thank you very much for that info. That will definitely get you an application should ED1 not come through.
