Applying Undecided

<p>Does applying undecided into specific colleges at top schools (eg: Cornell, Northwestern, Boston College) affect chances of admission? If so, by how much and in what way?</p>

<p>Generally no. However, for. some universities you effectively apply to a “college” or “school” within the university. So if you are undecided within the scope of majors offered by the college you can be undecided. Should you however apply undecided to say the college of arts and science and then after acceptance decide that you really want to major in a program offered at the college of engineering there may be no space for you at the college of engineering.</p>

<p>In practice a significant number of students apply undecided and of those who have decided a significant number change their minds.</p>
