I am a community college transfer student and my intended major is Cognitive Science. I am applying to UCSD UCSB and UCLA. I am filing with the TAG agreement for SB and SD but my GPA is a tad short so Im trying to play it safe. I have already fulfilled all of the transfer requirements for the Psychology major at all 3 universities, and I still have a couple to go for Cognitive Science. Im hearing from people that I should apply as a Psych major and then switch when I get there. Is it this a good idea?

you should talk on the phone with advisors in the department at each school to get advice. Cog Sci can be difficult to transfer into and the schools have a stringent set of requirements; see, for example, [Cognitive Science Major for Transfer Students; UCLA Psychology Department](http://www.psych.ucla.edu/undergraduate/advising/majors-minors/cogscitransfers)
