Applying with an F on transcript

<p>I may wind up with an F in a class this semester. I'm currently contesting the grade with the professor and am willing to go above his head if I must but the fact of the matter is that the grade might stick.</p>

<p>I've wanted nothing other than to transfer from my current school for next year, and this F will torpedo my GPA, dropping it about .5 points to a 3.29 cumulative. I can kind of explain the grade, but I don't even know if it's worth applying anymore. Thoughts? I'm a stellar candidate in every other respect.</p>

<p>3.29 still makes you transferable, just not to top schools.</p>

<p>But what defines a top school? I want out of my top 50 so, so badly- it’s not for me and now I’m scared to death that I’m stuck now.</p>
