When applying for college, do you apply for the major or the school? Can people tell me how it is? The application, the process, the fees, the essays, anything to know. I am super nervous! Thanks guys!
Depends on the school. For University of California and many public schools, you apply for the major.
Private schools, you apply for the school, while some others (UPenn, Brown PLME), let you apply for the school first and then the specific program within that school.
Start early as in now. You’ll be stressing a lot less when the application deadlines are nearing.
Like lets say suny stony brook? Do I apply for the school? if i get accepted and choose the major can I get kicked out? Or like if i apply for finance and wanna do bio when i get there?
You should check out their website for more information. It seems like the SUNY’s admit you into the school, and you don’t get to declare a major until you have 24 credits and no I don’t think you can get kicked out for switching majors. Plenty of people change their minds and at worst, it means that you’ll have to take more courses to satisfy the prereqs for that major.
