If I didn't score high enough on the SSAT should I even apply to a school I know I can't get into. Would the interview help at all??

Sometimes your score isn’t what makes a school want to accept you. If you can show that school that there’s something in you that they wouldn’t be able to find in anyone else, than you might have a really good chance of getting accepted just because of that interview.

There is a lot of rumor out there about the “necessary” score, and if you are on this site a lot, you might just feel like everyone who goes to a HADES school gets a 95 or higher. Not true. It is one small part (most likely the least significant portion) of your entire application. Have you taken the test…what is your score?

In comparison with other applicants (especially to schools such as Andover), you are right. However, that does not make a low SSAT score insignificant.

^^Right…depending on how low. The op does not say what her ssat score is and I did not want her to be misled by the types of scores most of the posters on this board have - it can make someone feel inferior if they aren’t scoring in the high 90’s.

Agreed. We all get 99s on the “End of Year make sure you know order of operations” exam, but a 89 (or even a 79) isn’t low.

I would have doubts if you have a score far below the 60th percentile for schools like HADES (not specifically these schools, with a score below something like that it will be tough to get into schools in the ballpark), but you can get into great (and I don’t patronize) schools with a score.

Mind telling us what you got? We can help.

Does anyone have the percentile chart for the SSAT?

Percentile chart meaning? X score = X percentile?

Yes becuase I cant find it on the internet and I was wondering if someone knew it.

It’s not on the net. If I find my scores (I won’t, but if I do) I will let you know. I can tell you, though, tht a 780 on the math for an entering tenth (last year for me) is in the mid 90s. Can’t remember much more.

Math you need to get a high score for a high percentile. Reading is a lot lower.

the principalv is a fraud!!! he will post 1000 + times, claim he gets accepted everywhere, then decide not to enroll. it doesn’t matter why. that is what he will do. don’t waste your time engaging with him.

Leave him be and don’t ruin this thread. How frustrating it must be to new posters with sincere questions that so many threads dissolve into fighting. He is on topic here; I don’t see a problem.

engage with him at your own peril.

@principalV I got an 800 on my 1st practice test for the math section of the SSAT. I know thats 99 percentile. Thanks Though!!!
