Does UTD not require any essays?

Are you a freshman/transfer/or grad applicant?

I’m applying as a freshman ^

As of today, no the essay is not required to complete the application. However, if you do not meet assured admission you NEED to do the essay. Also, if you review the scholarship awards below and you are on the “edge” of getting a higher scholarship you should submit the essay. In the past it was essay topic “c”, but an option of essays should come up when you get to that part of applytexas.org.

Please note “as of today” I have heard it may change for Fall 2014

Thanks for the info! It’s cause the optional essay is essay A and I really don’t want to write all three essays because I’m pretty sure I’m doing essay B and C for UT.

omgitsvicki,
Essay A is required for UT Dallas.
FYI, UT Austin requires two essays (C and either A or B).

However, since UT Dallas’ essay is an optional, I think your choices should work.

CORRECTION!!!
I found from a mail that UT Dallas requires essay C.
Please call UT Dallas admin office for confirmation.
Sorry for confusion.

Last year essay C was optional for me. My brother is applying this year and it seems as if it is optional this year as well. UTD does recommend writing it if you want to give yourself an edge in scholarship considerations as well. Although if it is not listed on the application, if you send in recommendation letters (my friend did this for the scholarship) they will review those as well and I believe they mentioned this somewhere on their website.

I attended UTD information session, the essay C was required for before 2014 Spring. The UTD mail I found was old one. For 2014 Fall, the essay A is the required if applicants doesn’t meet auto-admission.
Another information from the information session is as below.
UTD acknowledge the SAT scores reported in the official high school transcript. If your school’s transcript includes SAT scores, you don’t have to send official SAT score through collegeboard. What a saving of $11.25 !!!
Please check with UTD admission office on this info before your application.

Does UTD superscore ur SAT scores? Thank you!

Yes UT Dallas will super score your SAT
