ApplyTexas EC and Coomunity Service page

I was wondering, on the ApplyTexas EC and Coomunity Service page, hen it says "from when to when did you do this community service, for the end date, would we put the month and year we are expecting to finish is we are currently doing it.

For example would i put that i collected the recycling in my school twice a week beginning march of alst year and will be done May of next year, would I put that end date, or up to the last time I did it. and would I say how many total hours im "expecting" to get once im done later in the year, or just how many i have completed thus far.

Also, would UT and other colleges that one can apply to though Apply Texas ever ask for proof that one did X amount of hours? Because I have quite a bunch of hours and worried that they may not believe me.

Thanks

No, they don't ask for proof. It's a big deal now a days to lie on your ECs, but colleges still don't check.

As for the other thing, I would just put the date you are applying and then "Continuing to work" or something to that affect. They don't really care.

DP

^thanks for your response, but when u answered for my question abiyt "from when to when" u confused me.

please elaborate

I would put down 3/1/2007 to 11/10/2008 if you were applying today. I think it would look kind of weird if you applied in 2008, but your volunteering went on into 2009. If I were you, I'd send in a resume that states you're still active and plan on volunteering till the end of next year.

It's kind of hard to put this into words, but I hope this helped.

DP

How much does community service and volunteer work count? If there's no or little volunteer hours, how much will that hurt if applying oos? thanks.

I mean, if you have no ECs you might have a problem. No volunteering is not a big deal, as long as you've invested your time into other things but TV.

Thanks! D has no community service (yet) but has cross country, drill team, girl scouts, spanish honor society and hopefully will start tutoring spanish now that cross country season is over, so maybe that won't be too bad. I'm going to try to encourage her to do more, especially over the summer.
