Just checked the mailbox and there was a huge priority mail package in it. When I opened it..there was another envelope which I opened. Out came a shiny black folder with a certificate on the inside. It congratulated me on the appointment from the President and Supe.

Since I had an loa and nomination...I was kinda expecting it but still, I am happy and proud. I am going to wait to accept my appointment...just until I hear from other colleges to keep my options open. But still, I am HAPPY and GRATEFUL that I really don't have to wait for anything anymore..at least from usma.

To others with loas...everyday I check the site for candidates and on monday it said it received a nomination. So you will probably receive your tangible appointment a week or so afterwards. I predict a flood of appointments within the next few weeks...as so many people have been nominated and have loas. Anyway...good luck to all candidates.

Edit Maybe this post can be used to start a roster of everyone with appointments...just a thought..kinda like a sticky.

congrats! hopefully you choose to accept your appointment...I know that if i receive one i'll accept immediately! Hope to see you on june 26 2006, R-day.

Hey jq, did you know you got the nomination before it was posted on the USMA site? Or did the senator/congressman send you a letter first? I'm waiting anxiously :). CONGRATULATIONS!!!

A few weeks ago my senator called me and told me that he had decided to nominate me (the interview was like the 1st of November). Anyway I guess it takes a really long time with paper work and snail mail cause usma didn't receive it until this monday (at least according to the site). My senator also sent me a letter stating it (i think he called me just cause I had an loa).

So to answer your question a senator will either call or send a letter or both and you'll def find out before it hits usma's site. He or his staff will also call you up to congratulate you on getting an appointment before you actually get it...(he called this tuesday). Good luck...and

Mr.greenapple: I'm not positively sure but I think R-day last year was June 27th

Congratulations, you will get to spend your 21st birthday at USMA with your 1200 +/- Plebe friends and their Cadre' buddies. R-Day is typically 4 weeks after Memorial Day and like Memorial Day it always is on Monday. It is June 26th this year. You can check some of the key dates on the "Master Calendar" search site on www.usma.edu.

Haha Aug 6 here, so the big one eight will hopefully be spent doing something fun. Looks like theres alot of us with Beast Birthdays. I wonder if they give you "special" attention on your birthday, I'd be curious to find out.

I read somewhere (I forgot where) that you should try to hide your birthday, because in the past the upperclassmen "did" treat you "special" if they found out it was your b-day

i spent my 19th b-day in AIT medic training... got a 5 minute phone call home. yay. who cares if people know its your birthday. Even if they do somethin stupid, it will make a great story later on in life.

My birthday is July 16, we should all get together AFTER beast and have a big party ;). Although as plebes, I'm guessing that won't go over too well with the upperclassmen.

Haha, I'm in...sounds like fun, but I'm sure they'll already have a party scheduled for us. Do the words THE PUSHUP and EXCERCISE mean anything to anyone.
