i had two nominations and later received an appointment without hearing another word from the nominating sources

Hair net, nominating source may not be involved in appointment announcement. In 2006, my son and a h.s. classmate applied to USNA. Our MOC's office didn't return phone calls or answer emails when they tried to learn status of their nom'n app's -- the two of them found out she'd nom'd them when the Academy contacted one w/ NAPS offer, one w/ an appt!
I'm always a little envious when I read about the ceremonies some MOCs hold for appointees. (On the other hand, my son had the greatest BGO in history. Given a choice b/ an engaged MOC and an engaged BGO, I'd opt for the latter.)

whats a moc and BGO?

MOC = Member of Congress

BGO = Blue & Gold Officer

I got a nom from my senator the 14th of janurary and another nom on the 15th. Then like 15 mins after I opened my nomination letter, my congressman called and told me I got an appointment to USNA that would be mailed on the 18th. Im still waiting for the appointment letter from the academy, however.

From Maryland

^^^Congrats!!!!!!!!!

Welcome aboard, Academyfan!!!

Who is your Congressman AcademyFan?

Rep. Elijah Cummings

Has anyone received a nomination in Tennessee or know when they are generally given? I received an LOA in October but have not heard anything since then and my interviews seemed to go very well.

BIG ENVELOPE CAME TODAY! wow- I can't stop smiling!!!!

now does anyone have any opinions on whether to send in acceptance now or later? does it matter when you do it? should I wait-even if I'm positive I want to go?

You should wait. I was positive that I wanted to go, and now I'm NROTC at Notre Dame.

if you go to www.serviceacemyforums.com, there is a dad over there who said his son called his MOC and they were told that the sen, and cong, get together at one time and do their lists together. I guess they might only give out 1 nom per candidate, in NC the MOCS don't talk to each other so you can get 3 noms

You should send it now...if you know for sure. Why wait?

My son received his appointment via call from our Congresswoman yesterday morning. We are all so proud of him!

PlebeMom2012, many congratulations to your son!!! :)

Today, I was upstairs in my den watching TV, when my dad came up and tossed a large manila envelope onto my lap!!! Go Navy! And the ironic thing is that this is the first day in 3 weeks that I didn't check the mail myself! lol

congrats navypilot!! See you on I-day!

Did the USNA change from a 'blue' packet to a 'manilla' packet this year?

it comes in a manilla packet in the mail- but the actual appointment is in a blue binder (although, as I'm typing this, I am second-guessing myself)
