It could not have been thinner - just a letter announcing the appointment, a request for dental records and a police check. Just a few pages. As I said, nothing to indicate that it was anything special. The letter was worded very nicely though.

Well, I'll also say that the rejection letters are one-pagers, very thin in a business envelope. So, if it seems that you at least have 2 pages in there, it is a good sign. :)

I know that last year they include a bumper sticker with the acceptance letter.....

Not in my son's letter. He bought one at the mid store at CVS.

Didn't the bumper sticker come with the permission to report packet?
CM

candidatemom, That makes sense. Why would USNA send a bumper sticker to someone who might end up going to USMA...

usnawannabemom's son They are still giving out LOA's ?? I would of thought since all the congressional/senators/etc nominations had to be in by Jan 31st that there would be no reason for LOA's.

The conditions for an appointment after you get an LOA are triple-Q and nomination. Maybe something medical still needs to be cleared up?

Correct Jonez! My son was triple qualified then got an injury during football season and needs a medical waiver - its probably a pretty unique situation, but the LOA that came today sure made everyone feel better!

OH I never thought of that. Great news!!!

"Correct Jonez! My son was triple qualified then got an injury during football season and needs a medical waiver - its probably a pretty unique situation, but the LOA that came today sure made everyone feel better!"

That's too bad. I got some injuries during football season as well, but fortunately I've recovered and nothing I have is disqualifying. I hope he gets that waiver.

Thanks very much Jonez, We are pretty optimistic about the waiver, he worked hard in PT and he's as good as new. Congrats on your ROTC scholarship and keep looking for that mail believe me you never know! It sounds like you have a great chance so keep the faith. Just a year ago we thought it was all over when he didnt get into summer seminar, then he goes and gets injured and again we thought game up, and he also is in the eye waiver pool, and yet an LOA arrives on March 2nd so that should give hope for all. And not to start up that thread about white males again but to dispel that myth also, white male from New York - hope for all!

Congratulations to your son, usnawannabemom!

Thanks usnawannabemom. I felt the same way when I didn't get accepted for SS. I was pretty sure my chances weren't that good of getting an appointment. But my BGO and other officers said it was no big deal, and I ended up with my nominations.

I'm in the eye waiver pool as well. Should be interesting going from contacts all these years to BCGs for Plebe Summer. And I'm a white male from CA, meaning I probably won't get into Stanford, but I still got a good shot at Navy.

Jonez~my son is in the eye waiver pool too...the bummer part is he doesn't wear glasses and was told not to but for USNA he will need them. One eye is not 20/20 but the other is dominant and his combined vision is 20/20. Fully qualified for NROTC though. Wh / Male that is QQQ'd with nomination but who knows. Most of his contacts at CVW didn't get appointed until May and most we know in the same situation have taken 2 tries to get in. He is hopefully optamistic but not holding his breath...and trying to get excited about other choices as well...enjoy the beach for us!

Thanks Navgirl! Hey Jonez, I hear you about Stanford thats how we feel about chances for Georgetown, he's got an NROTC at George Washington which Georgetown is an afilliate for but he won't hear from them until April 1st. My son doesn't wear glasses or contacts, not sure if they are going to make him wear those glasses or not, I guess probably yes. Jonez I think you were at CVW the same time as my son.
