<p>(this is for the UC essays btw) For a college essay, is it best to give a straightforward essay that explains everything to-the-point? Or is it good to be creative and write in an abstract way.
Like my idea for one essay was to write about how I have been on a swim team since a very young age (it has played a HUGE part in my life), and show the progression of my thoughts as I grew older, until just two years ago, when I became a coach. I want to write how that, plus swimming, has influenced me, especially how coaching has changed my views and how it was a good experience. Something like that.
So is it best to say like "I joined swimming when I was a kid. it was fun. so on and so on" or kind of make it more creative and abstract in its structure/organization. </p>
<p>Also, do you think this idea is better for the prompt about "Describe the world you come from for example, your family, community or school and tell us how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirations."
or "Tell us about a personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution or experience that is important to you. What about this quality or accomplishment makes you proud and how does it relate to the person you are?"</p>
