<p>I have my first essay completed, but I'm just not sure it is, you know, what they are looking for. Do you think it is appropriate to write an essay with a theme like, "How I Overcame ________ Obstacle" or "How I Came Out of the Closet" or "How I __________." Do you know what I mean? My essay is about how I used some of the negative energy in my life and tried to make it more positive (i.e. tried to "prove myself" and worked very hard).</p>
<p>What do you all think? Is this too obvious, common, cliched, etc...? I don't want to come across as whiny, and I don't want them to think I'm this really aggressive person because I'm not. PLEASE HELP ASAP - I'd like to submit my app tonight!!!</p>
