Appropriate time to prepare for MCAT?

Hello, I am a recent high school graduate and future pre-med (bio) major with hopes of doing really well on the MCAT when the time comes. I need to know when is the most appropriate time to OFFICIALLY start studying and cramming for the MCAT. The past summer and some of this summer I've been reviewing A & P as much as I can and every chance I get just to become more accustomed to it then I already am. I can't help but feel like I should be doing something more/extra to help me further down the road in terms of solidifying all the scientific info I'm going to be accumulating over the next 3-4 years. Any suggestions on how I can ensure my capabilities of being well prepared for the MCAT or any advice on being a premed major would be extremely helpful!

Thank you!

Way too soon to start prepping for the MCAT. Most students spend anywhere from 3 months to 4 weeks intensively prepping before their test date.

If you want to do something now that will give you the most benefit–spend time improving your reading speed, comprehension and analysis of both scientific and non-scientific material. The verbal section is the one skill that is most difficult to improve on in short period of time.

Thank you for your helpful and thorough advice! (:
