appropriate time to start studying for sat & subject tests?

<p>for the SAT, how many months before the test should i start studying?</p>

<p>for the subject tests, should i buy a book and study, even if i am taking AP classes that match both my tests?</p>

<p>Bear in mind, I'm hoping to attend an upper tier UC (i.e. UCSD, UCLA)</p>
