A major, perhaps the most important EC I've ever been part of is science research (past 3 years). Currently I'm working on a research project that is sort of being done in conjunction with a lab at Penn (mentor is close to the guy working on it). I genuinely think the project is really need and Penn has amazing neuroscience and this is one of the reasons I want to apply, so would it be okay to mention this tie?

Personally, I say go for it! I mentioned a lot of research opportunities that interested me. I’d recommend focusing on why that research is interesting to you, more than the connection between the two researchers And maybe even attach an abstract too to show your research!

Definitely mention it, but try not to go overboard with it, otherwise it’ll seem like you’re just bragging. Just make sure you mention all the other aspects of Penn that you love as well!

Yeah, I’m just going to say, it’s an interesting thing I’d like to work on/that’s why Penn’s Neuroscience research is so cool. I’m also planning on attaching an abstract. Penn is honestly an amazing school for basically everything research related.

Another dumb question: what style do you think is appropriate for Penn’s supplement? After doing more research, Penn sounds incredible but I live really far away and can’t visit and I feel like it’s disingenuous to write it as a first person narrative.

You don’t have to make it a story as if you’re walking through the streets of Penn and this is what you see. I was accepted ED and I wrote it pretty straightforward. What I liked about Penn, how I would benefit from Penn and vice-versa. It was first person, but NOT some sort of catchy story.
