Hi everybody,

So I have an essay prompt that's supposed to be approximately 250 words long, and I managed to cut it down to 300. Is that still too long?

Thanks for your help! :)

It should be okay, but really try to cut it down if you can.

50 words on a 250 word pompt is 20% higher than what they want - that’s a lot - I’d cut it.

My Harvard daughter said to cut it down .

Alright, thanks guys! So would 275 be an acceptable length? Or even more below that?

it depends on the school because i know i’m applying to UIUC and they don’t mind it being a little longer but for OSU i had to make it exactly 250 or the online application wouldn’t let me submit it.

well it’s for u of Michigan… it says “approximately 250 words,” so it sounds like a pretty rough estimate…

oh i’m applying there too! yeah it might be okay then

Alright! Thanks for the input guys, I’ll try to get it shorter… I’m at 290 words right now!
