Approx. how many Q's can I miss in M&CR to get 725 in each?

Anyone know? I've got high 500's in both sections, but I need the 725's.

lol good luck with that since its impossible

what? that was rude. how is it impossible?

on the contrary, it's very possible!

For CR: usually, if you miss less than 7 questions you are in the 700s, so for 725 i guess 5ish wrong (might be harsher, might be less harsh)

For math it varies a lot more. Sometimes it can be a bad curve with 3 wrong is 725, other times 4 or 5.

Don't take my word for this, but I'm think it's pretty accurate

umm how is this possible
unless the thread starter is being sarcastic he or she is very uneducated about the sat's

you could have a 720 or a 730 not a 725

^^^no way, you could even get an 812 on a section, if you ace it

i think he was just approximating, and approximating by 25s is usually nice

ihatesats2, simply because I don't spend every waking moment of my spare time hounding sat forums and researching every aspect of the sat does not mean I am uneducated on the subject.

What I mean by 725 in each section, because I was unclear, is that I need a 1450 between math and critical reading. So either section can have whatever score, as long as they add up. 725 is simply half way in between.

And to add on, if I was being sarcastic ihatesats2, that would be really unfunny humor. :P

This is true. I got a 2412 on the SAT because I aced writing. It put me in the 101st percentile, if you're dying to know.

@Indiejimmy- Well, im a lot better than you. I got a 2425 and 103 percentile.
@OP All you should do is take practice tests and learn the strategies.

I got 3 math questions wrong (skipping none) and got a 710. You would want to get no more than 2 math questions wrong to get a 720/730 (average, i guess it depends on the curve).

For Critical reading, I missed 10 CR (skipping none) and got a 680. You would want to probably get no more than 6 wrong to get around a 720/730.

Can I ask a new question then?

While you are taking the math portion of the test, do you get that same feeling that you get when you're taking a test in school and you are very familiar with all of the material?

When I take the math portion, I feel as if I am unsure about much of it.

How exactly can I learn strategies from practice books? A lot of times, the answer explanations are confusing.

dont read the answer explanations...just try re-solving the problem w/ what you already know.

oh hey nice tip.

I think anyone can score great on the SAT; some people just have to try a heck-of-a-lot harder. :P I'm exhausted!

Missing two Q's on the Math section got me a 760.
There's a little more leeway in the writing and reading sections; missing two Q's in the reading section still gets you an 800. As for reading, an 11/12 on the essay is fine for an 800 (I didn't miss any other questions in that section, so I can't help you further.)

^^^^^^^I think SENIO8 is referring to the writing with the essay section not for the reading

If you are looking into strategies I would suggest getting the princeton review book. That helped me numerous times with the math section. For CR I would definitely suggest simply practicing with the different passages (and actually reading the explanations which helped me). Also, practice with flash cards if you are iffy on the vocab.

Yeah I did, sorry...

here are my scores - it might help you.

in december 2007, i got a 730 in reading - i missed six and omitted (didn't answer) none. i got a 740 in math and missed three, omitted zero.

in october 2007, i got a 720 in reading and missed seven, omitted zero. i got a 680 in math and missed five, omitted none.

That does help a lot, I have a better understanding now of how many I can miss.

BTW, good scores. And we're from the same state!
