-Dartmouth
-Princeton
-Columbia
-Cornell
-Yale
-Stanford
-Penn
-Duke
-JHU

I showed the list to my parents today, and they basically told me I have no chance at any of the aforementioned schools. They're probably right-now that I think about it-and it's causing me some serious anxiety, so I thought I'd ask for the opinion of fellow CCers. I'll gladly assess your chances as well; just provide a link below, please.
Thank you!

Good GPA and ECs. SAT I is slightly low but that’s ok. I think you have a great chance at some of the schools.

-Harvard(deferred) - reach
-Emory (Emory scholars) - match
-Vanderbilt(Cornelius scholarship) - match
-Dartmouth - low reach
-Princeton - reach
-Columbia - reach
-Cornell - low reach
-Yale - reach
-Stanford - reach
-Penn - reach
-Duke - low reach
-JHU - low reach

You will definitely get into one of the low reaches. Chance me back?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1271485-chance-me-ivies.html</a></p>

Thank you.

Bump

I could see you getting into Emory, Vanderbilt, and JHU. If you’re lucky, you may get into Duke and Cornell… The other schools are – for the most part – total crapshoots.

Thanks for the feedback.

Because of my scores?

-Harvard(deferred) - Reach (reach for everyone :P)
-Emory (Emory scholars) - Match
-Vanderbilt(Cornelius scholarship) - Match
-Dartmouth - Low reach (I think you’ll get in)
-Princeton - Again a reach school for everyone (unpredictable)
-Columbia - Reach (unpredictable)
-Cornell - Low reach (You’ll get in but it depends on the major)
-Yale - Reach (unpredictable)
-Stanford - Reach (very unpredictable)
-Penn - Low reach (again, depends on which school but you’ll probably get in)
-Duke - Match/low reach (in)
-JHU - Low reach (possibly)

I’ll assume that most of these EC’s you were very committed to (from grade nine or ten)
Strengths:
Great EC’s – really shows leadership and passion imo
Great Awards – shows that you’re well rounded

Weaknesses:
Less awards to do with neuroscience but your research activity compensates
Slightly low maths score and AP scores

But with some killer essays you’ll get into most of your schools, even the ivies! Good luck!

Harvard is a reach for everyone, and the other top Ivies also look tough, but Emory, UPenn, Vanderbilt, and Duke seem probable. Your EC’s are pretty awesome, I’m jealous. Its just that for Ivies you need to be superhuman. You’re pretty close though!

Chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1271408-chance-me-ill-chance-back-brown-cmu-nyu-ucla-berkeley.html</a></p>

Thanks for the help!

Bump

I think you may be a bit low on the SAT’s/AP/Class rank for the Ivies, but your EC’s are amazing and more than make up for it imo. I’m basically in the same boat-i have slightly better academics but slightly lower EC’s. Always good to meet a fellow HOSAn, though. What event did you place in? I’ve been to nationals for the last two years and placed in the top 20, but not as good as you. Anyways, this is what i think…

-Harvard(deferred) - reach
-Emory (Emory scholars) - match
-Vanderbilt(Cornelius scholarship) - match
-Dartmouth - low reach
-Princeton - reach
-Columbia - reach
-Cornell - low reach
-Yale - reach
-Stanford - reach
-Penn - reach
-Duke - high match
-JHU - high match

A note on Emory and Vanderbilt - you’ll probably get accepted, but getting the scholarship can be as hard, if not harder than getting them. they basically offer those to attract top student who would otherwise go to ivies to their schools. that being said, i applied to both too, so good luck :)

I personally think you’ll get into Duke, Cornell, JHU, and Dartmouth. The rest of them are crapshoots; they’re really unpredictable and have so many amazing applicants, the only thing you can honestly do now is hope for the best.

chance me back plz? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1269887-chance-me-please-ill-def-chance-back.html</a></p>

Thanks for the response! I placed in Dental Terminology…no idea how. I went home right after I took the test, and my teacher was supposed to let me know if I won. A week later, and I still didn’t hear anything from her, and THEN she called me because her phone was broken or something, haha. Nationals was pretty intimidating, though. The girl behind me to take the test did internships to learn the material–crazy!

Haha your parents comment I found extremely amusing. Anyway here’s what I think:
Harvard- High reach
Vanderbilt- High match
Emory: High match
Dartmouth- High reach
Princeton- High reach
Columbia/Yale- Same as Princeton
Cornell- Low reach
Penn- High reach
Duke/JHU- Low reach
Chance me back?
