April 13th Auditions?

My S was invited to Audition for MSU, but due to other schedule conflicts the only audition date possible for him would be April 13. Just wondering if anyone knows if there is even any point in doing this. With so many auditioning at Unifieds and all of the other audition dates, I am thinking they would have all their slots filled already. Also, would we even hear in time to make a decision for MCU or other schools by May 1. Just wondering if anyone else auditioned (or knows of anyone that auditioned) at the last audition date that got accepted. Any input would be appreciated.

I see your S has been accepted to DeSales. Has he heard from any other programs yet? April 13th is a late date for auditions. Most auditioned programs will have sent their notifications by April 1st to allow students to make their commitment by the national May 1st declaration date. Montclair requests students who’ve received an acceptance to their BFA programs to notify them of their decision no later than March 30th. They already have a deferral list to go to based on past audition dates. They may still be looking to fill a particular gender/type/vocal range to complete their class if they haven’t seen it at the dates they’ve already held. Your S may potentially fit their need, or he may not; it’s hard too say, too many factors involved.

Hopefully, he’ll have plenty of options by April 1st. You and he can then decide if it’s worth the trip/expense. I’m guessing you’re instate by your screen name. MSU is certainly an affordable option, but depending on scholarship/finaid offers, you may find OOS of state could be just as affordable.

Congrats to your S on DeSales!

Has anyone who auditioned on April 13th heard anything yet?
