To parallel the other board started for last week’s orientation (I attended this one- just got home).
How was everyone’s experiences?

It was awesome. I shadowed a Cadet 2nd Classman, and I saw a side of the Academy I will not see again for a while. I got to see some of the privileges that 2nd Class Cadets can have (i.e. a refrigerator, leadership positions, fewer restrictions on stuff in the dorm rooms, etc.). I also got to hear about BCT from the Cadre's perspective, and I found out some of what they are expecting of us this summer. In addition to everything else, I had the opportunity to meet and casually talk to several rising Firsties, which is an opportunity that I will not have again for a while. Anyway, I hope everyone else enjoyed Orientation as much as I did, and it was great to finally put faces with some of the names on here. I'll see everyone on June 28th!

I had a great time. I stayed with a 4 degree, so I got to see what it is going to be like after recognition. I got a lot of questions answered, like because I am a vegiterian I can get a refrigerator sooner. I was relieved to see that we are all in the same plane when we come here. One thing I learned quick was that there are a lot of stairs at the academy. I hope to see all of the people I met during orientation dinner and at the academy again. See ya on June 28!

Kelcie

does any1 know sat ii bio test scores

are those good

thanks guys

tyrabankskewl: talk to your ALO or the Academy.

Academy doesn't really look at sat2 scores.

like Cad said, SAT subject tests are not taken here. Need AP tests for that.

I enjoyed talking with grlboxer9 in my friend's room (her host). Small world, be sure to start a women's boxing club here. ;)

I stayed with a 2 degree that went to my high school, and since he is involved with soaring, I got a nice tour of the air field :).

^^^ lol hornetguy.
I wanted to burst out laughing when the athletic director tried to explain why women can't box.

I am going to try to because the athletic director did not even give a good reason. It seemed to me he just kept going around and around in circles. Oh well, I guess I will just do rugby. Hornet thanks for all the great information.

grlboxer9, I think we all know the reason why he won't let us box ;) I would love to learn though- plain old self-defense doesn't cut it in a fight.
You'll need to teach me how to play rugby. Or maybe I'll learn how to play lacrosse. I always wanted to.

Fudge_Rabbit, I met a lot of the girls on the Rugby team during orientation and all of the girls on the rugby team had never played before they came to the academy. All the girls are nice and want new people to come out and play.

but watch out or you'll have your face taken off, stomped on, and returned to you in a jar.

Cool. I always wanted to play a contact sport. Think I will join. :)

Personally, I can begin to understand why the athletic director said that, but it doesn't explain why men take boxing if you go by that approach. I think that there is a huge difference between boxing and real fighting for anyone - men or women - and self defense would help more if that was the goal.

you still take unarmed combat later in your years here. boxing used to be a formal way to fight, and every class since '59 has taken boxing. i really enjoyed it (tho the grading was not so great)

I will be validating UC 1 and 2 thankfully. Less class to deal with, ya!

u would. i'll have fun, i hope

By the way, if you can say this without insulting anyone, why is everyone scared by the Honor Guard?

I'm not sure "scared" is the right word. I'll let the four digs elaborate...
