April 2011 ACT Math Discussion

I thought the Math section was unusually difficult in the second half (unlike the first half with the roller coaster question…) but, oh well.

I hear that they’re even more humorous on the AP Psych exam.

Does anyone know if there was any C’s or H’s on 57 through 60? I ran outta time and had to guess on them 4.

i put bbcb, complete guesses b/c ran out of time

Anyone remember the max and min for the arithmetic series question? I remember 3 was added to each number i dont remember the rest

@seekinguni, You are correct.
Names are insane on the psych test.

Does anyone remember the sin^2 + cos^2 problem? They were talking about it earlier in the thread but no one confirmed an answer. I got -5…

Sorry about the double post, but did we ever resolve that Tangent of angle BCA question?
Is it 1 or sqrt(5) / 3?

Chiefta, the answer to that one was -3.

sin^2 + cos^2 = 1

So, sin^2 - 4 + cos^ 2 = 1 - 4 = -3

The tangent question was definitely 1. Tangent of 45 is 1.

was it sin^2+cos^ -4 or sin^2 - cos^2 -4?

It was sin^2 theta -4 + cos^ theta.

The answer was negative 3.
I think I put negative 4.

Sin^2 + cos2^2 = 1
0 + 1 =1
(0-4) + 1 = -3

well the answer was 7 numbers for the arithmetic series…also did anyone get 420 as an answer?..thought 420 was hilarious

Also, does anyone remember a minimum of 4 numbers possible in the equation and in quadrants II and IV?

Does anyone remember the LCD question? I got the really large number/

The LCD was 560

what was that question CPU?

How many wrong is a 30?

What was the LCD questions?

And yeah, I got 420 for one.

There were 3 fractions. I forgot what the answer choices were (and what the denominators were.)

But you took each answer choice and divided it by each of the denominators.

The answer was the second choice (so maybe 560, not exactly sure of the answer but I know that’s one of them.)
