no a-b had to be greater than 1

For that weird P(x,y) problem, which quadrants? Literally had no idea for that one…

And the last problem, was (a+b) true for a less than 1? I made a table with everything and it was the only one that worked I think.

Given a>b, and (a-b) > (a^2 - b^2), for which of the following is true for (a+b)

Pretty sure that was the problem.

It’s gotta be a triangle, curved bottom side doesn’t make sense. I had less than one and then changed it because if a was .75 and b .5 then it would still meet the requirements but a+b is greater than one

^ exactly. for all values of b, it ended up being greater than 1

I put A for the a-b, was that its greater than 1? I just remember A for the last question

For the P(x, y) I said quadrants I and II.

I put 1 for the tan question and changed it to rad5/3…smh…

I also put 1. For the cone, it was just a triangle.

Does greater than one work? Because a=.5 and b=.25 would meet requirements and be less than one I believe. I put (a+b) had to be greater than (a-b) but that was a guess after eliminating the other two

here’s what i did:
(a-b) > (a^2 - b^2)
(a-b) > (a-b)(a+b)
1 > (a+b)

a + b less than 1?

the one that was (a-b) but i think it was in p and q form, it was (a+b) less than 1

it does not work for 0.75 and 0.5. (a-b) would equal 0.25 then, and a squared - b squared would equal 0.3125. (a+b) had to less than 1.

The fountain was halfway between b and d, and you start from a, how far away is it?
Something like that, there was a diagram and the answers were in the form of “x units north and y units east”

the fountain one was like 4.5 north and 8.5 east if im correct

For the fountain question, I had something like 8.5 units east and 4.5 units north

I was pretty psyched about that fountain problem because the EXACT problem was in the red book. It was like north 4 units and right 7.5.

Can someone tell me the answers for the 3 or 4 questions with the triangle formed bt the inequalities? I think I got it right but It through me off a little bit. Also was the one with the F(x) and f(x-3)+1 or something moved so its in the Quad 1, so three units up and 1 unit right?

For the one where the guy walks east 100 m then makes a 25 degree angle etc. etc. did you guys get 47 degrees (I think it was choice B)?

Yes it was like 46.6 degrees or something, so it rounded to 47

I got 47.

@sea Yeah that problem got to me. I think it was where it got moved up and to the left.
