April 2011 ACT Math Discussion

What answer choice was the 4.5 units up and 8.5 units right?

wait what did you put for the 16 and 10 one?

@stanfordcs…i think it was b

anyone remember questions near the end?

what was 43 and 52? (for letters)

Does anyone remember what answer choice A was on the last question of the math? The question was: "(a+b) is … and I am pretty sure it was less than 1. I was goin back and forth and remeber I put A down. Just can’t remember what A was.

you know that graph of y=f(x-3)+2? I put D at the last minute, was that right?

Also, on the park - was it 52 different options where the picnic table (or whatever it was) could be? I have a feeling that’s wrong but idk, I think the only other reasonable option was 22 and that didn’t make sense to me.

@MissxSilverwing 22.

i put 52 lol i did 4x13

What answer choice was 22?

A is tha answer

How do you guys remember the exact number and letter?

The answer to the question “a rectangle has sides 4x:x Area:80” was 18 because it asked for the closest answer to the longer side. The area would be 4x*x=4x^2=80.

So x^2=20.

So x=4.5 approximately

The longer side is 4x so 4*4.5=18

How do u do the one with the logs?

1/3^4 is 1/81

Darn…so that’s 2 I’ve almost definitely gotten wrong lol

Does anyone know what the graph of y = f (x - 3) + 2 looked like???

graph was up 2 right 3

so…D? I’ll just hope ;p

c or d i think

Oh wait if there was a y-intercept at 2 it had to be either B or D (others had different y-intercepts) so assuming you’re right about either C or D, it was D. YES!

I think the area of a rectangle one was 16, because 16:4 is a 4:1 ratio.
