<p>littlepenguin, I think you are correct. The keyword in that answer was <em>imitators</em>. The brothers went in remote fields to experiment where no one else would watch their invention and try to copy it.</p>
<p>it was definitely refurbished shed, cellar, and pits. the courtyard was an addition to the house but was irrelevant to their ink business.</p>
