April 2011 ACT Reading Discussion

@sbl0323, @nycstudent Yeah it was an adult looking back at childhood. They also said “I remember the smell of the ink”, so tells you it’s from the past.

it was an adult looking back, i also remember her aunt having better caligraphy (sp) than the father

so in the plane one, there was one about “what was the purpose of the second paragraph”

i said that it was to chronicle their test flights or something.

^ Her aunt having better calligraphy than her father, wasn’t that the answer to one of the questions.

I thought it was an ink maker not an adult looking back on her childhood

Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using CC App

i said it gave more details about their first flight that worked

No. See my post in this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/act-preparation/1124042-curve-predictions.html.

What about the question in the ink passage that said what happened in the past? I don’t remember any of the answer choices except there was a fire and the items were lost/burned.

do you guys remember what you put for the one where it said given all the following are true, which would add to the physical presence of the queen? I either said on her throne or none of them can’t remember

On her throne.

^ Go to the English thread, btw I put on her throne too.

I put the ink was ruined by insects

my bad couldn’t remember if it was English or reading ><

@HSstudent: I put ‘on her throne.’

@Qwerty The passage had something with a fire in it, so the answer was lost/burned, so I think you’re right.

you had to infer it, i dont think fire was right

Fire was right

i think fire was it, because it said “a couple hundred years ago, a fire burned our shed”

so i took couple to mean 200? it was the only one that made sense, so i agree with Qwerty

it was fire they mentioned that centuries ago there had been one that destroyed their materials and goods.

Source: Im Chinese ik =P

I don’t think fire is right either.
