April 2011 ACT Reading Discussion

@agn It said a couple centuries.

You cant infer something that has been stated…

Oh, whatever. Couple hundred years, couple hundred centuries, same thing. Also, it said 6 centuries for when they moved.

Ok lets discuss the comics questions, what did it noT answer? what kind of drawing style right?

drawing style is correct

What did you guys say for #1? An adult looking back or an ink maker talking about an age old practice or something

@ftw Drawing style.

@CollegeBound That was discussed last few pages, it was adult looking back.

I put an adult looking back at his childhood.

adult looking back. also for the fish passage…which question could not be answered?

fin location i think

Can you explain why though? Because i felt she was still an ink maker because she talked about how her family lived there for like 6 generations or something

fin location? that’s what i put

100,000% sure it was an adult looking back on her child hood. The second I saw it was written by Amy Tan I knew, because in 8th grade we read her stuff and the vast majority is memoirs. Also the passage in question is also available on google books, but the ACT omitted many paragraphs and screwed it up. :)

Also, she didn’t really describe the process, as she talked a lot of her family and her experiences. The process thing was only like 2 paragraphs. Also, Amy Tan is a well-known author, not inkmaker.

i think its bc she said when she was living(beginning of passage) suggesting she moved out of that life style cause otherwise she’d still be living there

It was adult looking back because if you read the first sentence again, it said “remembering… blah”.

what the answer where they asked the difference between the two fishes?

What about the first question on the Wrights’ passage. What was the perspective of the writer. Was he analyzing with historical something? Or was he there when he saw the planes take off at Kitty Hawk or something?

i put he was a historical writer

^Same.
