First of all, I would like to wish everybody taking the act this saturday good luck. I am extremely worried about this test, as it is my first act, and I was just wondering based on past acts, how this test might compare. I know it is not that important but I was just curious.

I’m taking it too for the first time! I’ve taken so many practice tests too (5 so far, I did part one of a 6th and will either finish tonight or tomorrow). I think the progress I’ve made is actually ridiculous. On my first test I got a (28,34,26,26). Now, my highest scores on separate tests are (36,36,32,34), so hopefully I can pull something like that off on a real test. Also, I know on the SAT there is usually a big discussion afterwards. I realize not as many people are taking the ACT, but can we talk about a lot of the answers after?

Usually threads are made right after the test, as in the feb 2012 test. Those are some nice scores btw. My math, science, and english are really strong, but my reading is very inconsistance depending on each test. Im just hoping to relax and do well on the reading. I was doing a practice from 2006 and I found that compared to the more recent tests it was actually harder. I know this is weird, but the questions were much more difficult and the curves were really harsh. I know the curves are generally harsh to begin with, but I stopped doing this test because I found it pointless. Idk it was one of the old practice tests in pdf form. W/e I am ranting. Anyways best of luck to you!

Math curves seem to have gotten more lenient than before due to the increasing difficulty of the math section. The one I took today had a curve of -2=36.

Wow, that is quite a curve CantConcentrate. That would be nice for me though, as my lowest composite from a practice test I just did out of the Red Book was a 32 in Math. Composite was an even 33, which is good for me; I just want a 32 at least.

Just curious, how much have the curves changed since the publication of the Red Book? In the Red Book, -0 = 36, and I guess… that isn’t the case anymore? I’m not sure if I should be saying “Yay, curves!” or “No, harder sections!”

4th time taking it, took it twice at a national test date and once for state testing.

1st Test: C: 33, E:35, M:34, R:34, S;28
2nd Test (Lets not talk about it, lets say i didnt study for it at all considering i signed up for it before i got my 1st test results back (I thought i got a 28 on the 1st one lol)
3rd: E,M,R: 35, S: 27
4th (Hopefully): E: 35/36, M: 35/36, R: 35/36, S: 35/36

Best of luck to all of you!

Good luck to all of you! It is my first time taking it. I am a little nervous but after preparing for the past weeks I am looking forward to taking it finally. I just need to make sure I focus to avoid careless errors. I’m hoping for a 32 at least. Again, good luck!

1st Test: C: 28, E: 32, M: 27, R: 27, S: 26

This test: C: 31, E: 34/35, M: 29/30, R: 29, S: 27

Honestly, I’m waaay more nervous for this test than I was for the SAT, hahaha. Absolutely no prep beyond the PSAT rewarded me with a very good score (figure that out :P), but I guess I’m just anxious for this because I’m going in absolutely blind… and that’s why I’m searching this forum for tips right now, heh.

I’m gonna go to bed soon. Good luck! ACT is a more straightforward test and because of that I find it a lot easier than the SAT.

good luck everyone! for those who have taken it, how is the timing? im a very fast test taker (i had b/w 4-8 minutes left in every section of the sat except for one math) , but the timing still worries me since i want to avoid any careless mistakes from rushing. did anyone find they did not have enough time?

was it affects or effects?
what did people get for the very last question? it was like who knows.
i said it was who knows? maybe it will start a trend

how was the test

Not going into specifics yet… The sections were all equal in difficulty in my opinion. Hard to use history examples in essay. If I had to pick, science was easiest.

Predictions:
English - 30
Math - 30
Reading - 31
Science - 30

Wow, those that are already posting must be on the east coast. Any thoughts or opinions on that test anyone wants to share? Was it harder or easier than you thought it was going to be? How do you think you did? Etc. We are in the Midwest and my daughter has about a half hour more on her test. She should be doing the writing portion right now. I can’t wait to hear how it went for her. She prepared for it as much as she was able to, so hopefully it will be enough to get her that 30!

Battlebrick, I am glad to hear that the science section was the easier side. I think this section is the most unpredictable in terms of difficulty. On practice tests my daughter can score anywhere from a 34 to a 26, depending on the section.

Does anyone know how long it takes to get the results back? Do you get the results from the multiple choice portion of the test before you get back the essay grade?

To your questions: april 30th, and yes.

Thanks for the reply, battlebrick!

Are there multiple tests? Because I don’t remember an affect vs effect question, and I thought science was hardest by far.

did you have a section about the photographer
