something comfortable. don't wear cut up jeans and a ragged T-shirt, but suits aren't necessary. polo shirts and khakis are great, or a little less more depending on what you normally wear and what makes you comfortable

Jeans and a polo are fine.

Don't bring pajamas. Sleep naked. It's going to be a 2011 thing. ;)

lol, sounds like a plan.. Sorry Austin..haha

You wouldn't bring PJ's anyways, you have the nice see through issued ones already!

Are you sure they won't be too long?

Caleb, you can sleep outside if you're gonna wear your birthday suit. ;)

The issued PJs suck, in case you didn't get hornetguy's sarcasm...most of us slept in PC gear during basic and sweats during the year. I have my nice comfy PJs from home now...

you have to go to bed in the issued pj's, but most ppl don't keep them on (pc gear=great)

Orientation was a lot of fun. The briefings on Monday were pretty long, but TSgt Bell had a few good one-liners, and Dr. Mueh (the AD) seems like a real character.

It is kind of relaxed now that Recognition is over, so be prepared my fellow 2011ers - this is not what our day-to-day life will be like for a while. Still, it was definitely a valuable trip.

...And I know at least one guy (Cadet Hamilton) who likes the PJs, but good luck if you want to go with the birthday suit. :)

what i learned from the briefings/trip: enlisted personnel are SO much more entertaining to listen to than officers :)

What I learned: you should be in your room by taps...
I left and got lost and my host freaked out a little searching for me and now everyone teases her for losing her appointee.

^^^ lol. That happened to me, sort of. It was a practical joke, actually. I was doing an overnight a while back and i left campus with one of the upperclassmen to go get some supplies. We went back to her room and hung around until my escort called to get me. We got her on speaker phone and the cadet I was with told me to be quiet. Then she said that I'd got back to my escort's room a while ago and they didn't know where I was. My escort didn't believe her at first, but then she started getting freaked out and told the her that she better come up with a good explanation for my parents as to why she'd lost their daughter. We laughed so hard when she found out I was there all along. My escort was kinda mad though.

Despite the crazy, fickle weather, orientation was well worth the trip. Our appointee was pleasantly surprised to discover that he was able to understand and keep up with almost everything that was being discussed and taught in the classes he attended, including chemistry. He thought the cadets he roomed with were really friendly, although they warned him, "Don't get used to it--it won't be the same in June." I was extremely impressed with the cadets who participated in the briefings. What sharp young men and women! I enjoyed hearing the cadet with the Mississippi drawl who gave the sage advice that new cadets should strive to NOT do anything to attract undue attention to themselves at BCT (like the cadet who showed up with a mohawk haircut). The cadet wing commander seemed to have an awful lot on the ball (he'll go on to the Harvard Business School for graduate studies before reporting for pilot training). I am very, very happy for my son. He's going to fit in well there.

and just a heads up, a lot of cadets as you walk by will say something like "Don't do it!" or "Get away while you still can!" But just remember, if any of them seriously thought that, they wouldn't still be there...

Just a quick question for those people who drove (if any) what time did you get to the field house monday morning?

Its in your little brochure, registration and all that is done from between 730 to about 815.

Well, Bluemer...my cadets were saying that we didnt have to be in our rooms for taps...just in a room. so we could have been ok, but someone didn't tell teir cadet where they were going. lol. good times. I actually had a great time though. hanging out with the cadets and fellow appointees was a lot of fun and the classes weren't that bad. (english was kinda boring though) but the chemistry lab was great. I got passed around between the two girls in my room and a fellow cadet down the hall for classes so I got to see a bit of each class. It was cool. I'm so excited.

(again, i know i'm late responding to this as well..)
