All of them were easy but the time limitations killed me! Random guessing on about 10-11!
Didn’t turn the way I expected! Will take it again!

Hardest ACT I’ve taken yet.

Sent from my HTC Glacier using CC

Im aiming for 30-34. (would be really satisfied with a 31, anything above is just extra.)

English - thought it was a little bit harder than practice tests. Predicted - 31-34.
Math - WAY harder than practice tests. Asked questions that Ive never seen in an ACT prep book/online/old test…30-33.
Reading - About average compared to practice tests…all depends on curve (as usual…and jsut like the other sections) 30-34.
Science - I thought it was really easy - if i need to work quick i can and i made sure i did this and was able to answer every question. 33-36.
Essay - No clue. Didnt really prep for it, just read over how to write a good one and looked at some samples. Wrote 2.5 pages, good grammar/vocab. I think the SAT essay is way easier to prepare for as there is more info available about it (got 12 and 10 on sat essay by following simple guidelines). overall Essay lacked depth however…8-10.
Worst - 30
Best - 34
Realistic - 31/32.

Curve will be a MASSIVE factor in determining my score and everyone else’s.

English~normal if a bit on the easier side predicted 30-33 hopefully 31 or 32
Math-harder never seen a stem and leaf, survey thing, ect on official act material predicted 34-36 know I didn’t get a 36,
Reading normal predicted 35-36 probs 36
Science harder but not impossible predicted 35-36 probs 36
Hopefully I can pull a 35 composite, if not delete and retake…

Oh and the essay prompt kinda sucked, just went full liberal. Got like a 5 last year, don’t really care as long as its higher than that

I just averaged out all the opinions in this thread using excel, and the average opinion is:

English: Easy
Math: Slightly Above Normal
Science: Slightly Easier than Normal
Reading: Slightly Easier than Normal

In my opinion the curve will be pretty generous to the Math section, and fairly nice to the Reading section. The Science will be cutthroat because the curve will probably be very little given how easy a lot of people thought it was. English will just be normal, per usual.

Personally, it felt like:

English: Easy
Math: Slightly harder than normal
Science: Easiest science section I’ve ever seen
Reading: Easy

I thought that this test was on average a lot harder than all of the practice tests that I’ve taken. I’m aiming for a 32-34, and I have no idea if I actually reached it. I feel like it could have gone either way; either I guessed right and did amazing, or I didn’t guess right and bombed it.

English: Slightly easy/average.

Math: Impossible. I usually have no trouble with timing on the ACT, but for some reason this section in particular killed me. I had to completely guess at the end, partially because those last questions scared me, and the fact that I was running out of time. Also, I’ve never seen some of the topics on the ACT (ie. Leaf diagrams) I really am hoping that they will be generous with the curve.

Reading: average.

Science: Hard. Is it just me, or was there no bio on this one? The bio sections are always the ones that kind of give me a breather, and not having them kind of made me panic. I also thought the charts were fairly difficult on this one. Again, it could have gone either way.

Essay: I actually really liked the essay.

English: Easy (hopefully 35)

Math: slighly harder than usual due to the obscure skills that aren’t usually tested. I’m really hoping for a nice curve here. (maybe 34)

Reading: I thought it was normal. I can see how people might have had trouble with the string theory passage, because it required some outside knowledge of science (hopefully 34)

Science: This is usually my lowest, but I felt this was much easier than the other tests I have taken. While the topics were difficult to fully understand, most of the questions were just derived from the graphs and tables. (I have never gotten above a 32 on this section, but I feel like it may be 33+ this time)

English: Easy
Math: Easy except for the last few - it had some stuff that ACT doesn’t usually test
Reading: Easy except for the string theory passage
Science: Easy-ish
Essay: Really difficult; the prompt was stupid and I ran out of time. I couldn’t even think of any examples.
Hoping for a composite of 35.

Can anyone elaborate on these new skills that the ACT tested on the math section?

@parallelism they weren’t much of new skills, more of new problem types? if that makes sense. Like the background information that you need to know is the same, its just that the type of questions changed, like it was asked in a different way then it usually is

I didn’t really know what to expect going in, as my only comparison was the PSAT.

English: extremely easy compared to the PSAT. I expected more vocab rather than basic grammar usage. (Estimating 1-5 wrong)

Math: First 45 or so questions were a breeze and after that it got harder, but still wasn’t bad. (Estimating 2-4 wrong)

Reading: Easy passages and questions but I really had to rush it. (Estimating 2-7 wrong)

Science: Relatively easy. I didn’t read passages for most, because the questions were all based off of reading graphs (Was there anything in the passages that would change answers?) The last couple sections I was rushing it so I could have made some simple mistakes. (Estimating 2-5 wrong)

Writing: The prompt wasn’t bad. I actually went off from of the 2 basic options a little.(Does this hurt/help at all or just depend on the judge?) I wrote 2 1/2 pages. Is it okay that I wrote a 4 paragraph essay with more detailed body paragraphs vs. the traditional 5?

All in all it actually went better than expected. I really don’t know what to expect for a score range though. Could anyone give me even a large range based on my estimated wrong answers in each section?

The first time I took the ACT (last June), I got these scores:
English: 27/36
Math: 18/36
Reading: 31/36
Science: 21/36
Essay: 6/12

Now this year, I’m not sure how well I did, because I am supposed to get extended time, but they messed it up, so I had to take the test regular time. I don’t know how much this will hurt my score.

English: Easy. Finished with plenty of time to spare.
Math: Medium. It started super easy then got really hard.
Reading: Medium. It was easy, but I ran out of time.
Science: HARD. I had to guess on the last 8-10 questions because I ran out of time.
Essay: Hard. Now let me explain. I hate simple prompts. This prompt was so simple, that it was actually very difficult to respond to. I went a little off the two basic options a little just to come up with more content. But I got the 5 paragraph standard down.

**Can anyone help me with an expected score range???*

Hoping to get a 32

English: Just like usual it was easy
Math: Harder than normal
Reading: Average or maybe a little bit harder than normal
Science: Harder, time consuming questions

Predictions:
E: -4 —> 33
M: -4 —> 33
R: -8 ---->29
S: -3----->31

Composite: 32
