xsamurai, I don’t think that score is going to hurt you at all!

I don’t know what the requirements are for you, but as someone else who wishes to pursue medicine, a 34 is definitely something to be proud of!

Also, science is kind of the variable. I did alright my first time, with like a 27, but I got a perfect score this time. Like I said: VARIABLE!

JoBenny ~ You and your son should be very proud of that score! That’s the 93rd percentile! I was a little reluctant to post my daughter’s scores as well. We were all over the moon w/her scores, and are still very thrilled w/them considering this was her first “real” ACT test as well. She is taking it again in early June and will be aiming a little bit higher on that test, but she is so relieved that she has that 30 already, so it does take some of the pressure off. Is your son planning on taking it again, too? Hopefully his score on this test will give him a lot of confidence going into the next one.

Math - 33 18/14/18
Science - 26!!! I must have filled in the answer document wrong because I was expecting a 30-32. This is down from my last test as well.

Math is the only score I am proud of. I know I can get as high on the other sections because I have on an untimed practice tests, but since I read at a slow pace finishing English and reading are particarly hard for me. Reading was my lowest at a 24. Any tips on working on reading and english? I have been reading some difficult books in the last few weeks, but it hasn’t seemed to speed up my reading.

Should I retake it in June or September… Theres so much going on in May (SAT, AP exams, AP class finals) that I won’t have much time to study but I don’t want to wait until September because that’s so far away… Help please…

I’m fairly proud of these scores for my first time, but I’m also pretty surprised. While I knew that I didn’t get to the last few in math (I spent too much time on a single question) I thought it would be higher, as it is by far my best subject. I’m fairly proud of my English score; while I thought it was pretty easy, there were a few tricky ones in there, and I thought that it would barely be curved.

Reading is about what I expected. I was hoping for a 30-31 on it, but its not big deal. I did realize that I should bring a watch in the future, because, while I made much better time on the prose fiction than on my practice tests, I quickly lost track of time and ended up guessing on a majority of the final passage. The score that really surprised me was science. I personally think that the questions themselves are pretty easy, but it’s just very time limited, and on this test I had to guess on the entire last section. From what I heard, the general consensus was that the science was harder than usual, and so it was probably curved a bit, and I must have gotten lucky on a few of the guesses too.

The essay… I don’t know lol. I got a 6 on the SAT essay (only wrote 3 paragraphs) so the score’s definitely welcome, but it barely counts for anything on the ACT so…whatever.

EDIT: I thought the composite score is usually rounded? I just did the math and it was 31.5, so shouldn’t that be a 32?

First time taking it, no preparation (I studied a lot more for the SAT), so overall couldn’t be happier. Especially in consideration of my science score. I went into the test blind in that perspective so I’m thrilled. Retake for a 36?

Pretty good considering that I’m only a sophomore and did absolutely no preparation, though I’d hoped for better. A lot of people have told me, upon finding out about my score, to just stop taking it and be happy with my score because “no one gets a 36” (the words of a junior who is supposedly one of the smartest in his grade). However, I’m determined to get a 36 though because only 4 people in my state got a perfect score last year. Any advice?

why is everyone genius here and talks as it is natural thing to get 34?? am i the only one who feels that? Btw i got my highest score 32 including english 29 math 34 reading 32 science 31. So i was feeling so f happy until coming in here

I’m a junior, this was my first (and definitely last) time taking it. I got a 36… I didn’t study much for it, so I considered getting a refund on it until I found out they had a no refund policy. So I sucked it up, took the test, and felt like I did pretty good!
