Umm… a 35 is fine.

Does your essay score affect this at all? My combined English+Writing is a 30 (9 on essay). Help please?

I can confirm a -2=35 for English, and I know a guy that got a 34 Reading with 18/17.

Essay doesn’t affect composite scores.

My advice would be to let it go because science on the ACT isn’t even real science, and most colleges know that. That’s why math schools like MIT Caltech and CMU don’t even take into account the science part. Harvard won’t look at a 35 any differently than a 36 if you have strong ECs and good recommendations.

As for your mom, if she doesn’t support you no matter what then god help you.

Efffffff Reading!!!

Killed the English, but the science killed me haha. I was really putting anything I was so out of it.

Also anyone know why my essay score isn’t available yet?

It keeps getting a little better. Ugh. My reading keeps going down. Definitely retaking.

@Gator911: Those schools definitely consider the Science section… But what I think what you mean to say is that even though you may have a subpar science score, they won’t hold it against you.

For example:
[E/M/R/S]

[35/35/35/32] = [34/36/35/31] = [36/36/36/31] = [34/34/34/33]

I have to admit the science was a blessing. I went up 7 points :)

I’m confused about the math scoring. SkeezeyJ got a 36 with 18/17/18 but I got a 35 with 17/18/18.

Can someone please explain?

18/17/18 = 36
17/18/18 = 35

My guess was that the Pre-Algebra subscore was -2=17.

@CollegeGirl A subsection could have a (-1/-2) overall scale; however, a subscore may have a (-1) scale for a 36. In other words, you could miss one or two for a subsection score, but, as those are independent of the subscores, you may make a lower subscore than a person with the same subsections.

32!!!

I’m retaking because I know personally I can do better on science. I felt rushed. Even when I did practice tests I always felt like that; however, I just need to pace myself. I’ll bring a watch with me because we also had a broken clock in my testing room. I feel confident I can increase my science so I can get a 34 composite next time.

I’m still confused :/

My English score was 24… Not what I expected… Expected somewhere in the mid 30s…
the usage/ mecahnics was 14 and the rhetoric skills was 12, so does a 24 sound right?
