April Honors weekend

Is anyone going to honors weekend in April?

Hopefully! It’s expensive to fly and I really have no desire to drive, but I’m trying to convince my parents to help me figure out how I can get there. If I go, it would definitely be in April, once I’ve heard back from all the other schools.

Where in Virginia, whoazoe? Can you find a relatively inexpensive flight on Southwest? If you are near Norfolk you could leave Saturday April 9 and come back Tuesday the 12th for as little as $215, at least as of today. Flying out of Baltimore is the cheapest at about $180 round trip, while Dulles is about $315. So if you think you want to see Tulane no matter what the other schools say, you could get a fairly decent price. That doesn’t include taxes and any airport surcharge, so for example that $180 is really $203. Still, pretty good deal.

Thanks fallenchemist. I’m right outside of D.C., so Dulles is closest but Baltimore isn’t far at all. I’m going to talk to my parents about it this weekend and see what we can work out. I was thinking it would be closer to $400, so $180-$200 actually seems possible!

Thanks again!

OK, but book it quickly if you can. You never know how long those fares will last.

My D has registered and plans to attend this weekend.

We have had good luck with Air Tran for great rates going south. I know they fly from some VA airports and go into NOLA…it might be worth checking their site.

I was considering the april honor’s weekend, but I only got admitted to the program after I scheduled my Destination Tulane visit March 21st.

FC- do you think I could see Butler Hall during my visit, despite not being the honors weekend?

Probably. Ask your tour guide to specifically show you Butler. They can at least show you the lobby. The rooms themselves you can see here: [Arrive! Residence Halls: Butler House](http://housing.tulane.edu/arrive/butler.html) Pictures 2 and 3 look exactly like my D’s room freshman year, except obviously the decorations were not there, and the beds were elevated, which was nice because it gave you a lot of storage underneath. Frankly going to see the actual rooms won’t give you much more insight than these pictures, except for seeing the closets. But they are just closets, with one of them having a 4 drawer (or maybe it was 6) dresser inside of it. The rooms are pretty basic but fine. Being an older dorm, it is a traditional hall bath arrangement.
