April Open Houses....which are you going to?

Hey all admits!

If you're going to one of the open houses, which one are you going? I'm going the 23rd, because I'll be in Europe for the week before. Im soooooo excited though, I just wish I didn't have to wait this long!

And if anyone wants to share, what exactly goes down at one of these Open Houses? I got the thing in the admit package that talks about the tentative schedule, but anyone wanna share more details/personal experiences?

Depends on if you're staying overnight or not...Overnights definately give a more realistic perception of what goes on, especially if you're staying during a weekend.

Usually, AOH is just a lot of going to panels and events put on by the admissions office, hanging out with current students and trying to figure out if Tufts is The School for you. I did Telescope during my AOH and that was a lot of fun, but certainly a different experience than staying on campus for half a day.

ya, i wish i could do an overnight, but none of the days fit for me, which is too bad. im still looking forward to the Open House though!

oh, and another question.....most people bring parents to these types of things....right (sorry if thats a dumb question....im the oldest in my family and we've never really done the college thing before)

Lots of people come with their parents, to the extent that it seems like there are more parents than students!

Yes, people definitely bring their parents. Staying overnight was nice for me because my parents were in town and got to check out the school and Open House, but I got to see the campus and go to events independently, too. Staying overnight gives you a better idea of the campus as well.

are there any parties / social events on any nights that open houses are offered? What would be the best day to attend?

I just wanted to put an offer out there as a few people PM'd me and asked... I'd be willing to meet with any of you who are coming to the April Open House -- especially those who are particularly interested in the IR major or the Tisch College of Citizenship & Public Service. I can't promise I can meet with everyone, but I'd love to try to find a time to make it work. Let me know by PM.

I'm going to the open house on the 20th. I'll be staying overnight hopefully on the 19th.

Staying overnight the 19th to attend the 20th open house.

Generally Fridays and Saturdays, and sometimes Thursdays. So, the 19th, 20th, and 21st?

It really depends on how much of a social life and what kind of social life, for that matter, the student hosting you has. You could have a great or horrible time depending on that student. Hope you're lucky! Just keep in mind that your social life will be what you make of it, so don't judge based solely on that student.

does anyone know if, at the Admitted Students Q&As (not the open house), we get a campus tour right after?

And keep in mind that it's a hell of a week for some people (namely me), work-wise and ec-wise, so your host might not do the things they normally do... Or maybe it will just be me letting my prefrosh down...

There are campus tours three times a day (9:20, 11:50, 2:50) and usually, people go to the Q&A after or before their tour.

i just got back from a Q&A session at Tufts today, and an unofficial tour from one of my friends who goes there.....let me just say, the campus is AMAZING! I totally understand what they mean by "the match" and that "you can just feel a school is right for you". It's ABSOLUTELY true. If you get the chance, VISIT THE CAMPUS!

and to anyone going on the 23rd, I'll see you there! Cant wait!

getting there on the 19th, going on the open house on the 20th

flying over from New Zealand pretty excited :D my first time in america

Hey Guys,

I'll be doing one of the first-year perspectives panels on Friday the 20th, at 1:30, so come by!

~Ben

Ok, this may be a stupid question, but I can't find anywhere online where I can register that I want to do an overnight and attend Thursday's open house. Help!

Is there a proper open house on the 19th? I will be there that day, but I can't go on the 20th or 23rd.

AOH is all three days, the 19th, 20th and 23rd.
