APs + Pre-Reqs.

Sorry if this has been posted but I was just wondering could I use an AP exam to fulfill a pre-requisite?

Also is it better to first focus on getting my pre-reqs done and then finishing any classes in need for IGETC?

Thank you so much. :)

You'd have to check with the UC you plan on transferring to to see what score you need to get to fulfill a prereq. For example, you'd need a 5 on the AP Calculus BC exam to fulfill Haas's calculus requirement.

You should try to take a nice mix of GE classes and prereqs instead of stuffing all of either in your last semester.

Yes. I got rid of my bio requirement by my 5 on AP Bio.

and the first semester of Calc by my 5 on AP Calc. Didn't help though, b/c I took it again at UCSC, b/c they didn't accept AP credit for that. thanks a lot UCSC.

these were all for my major too. at Cal. But do check. Don't just assume it'll work.

Wait, UCSC didn't waive your calculus requirement after getting a 5 on the AP exam? That's ridiculous... Which exam was it, AB or BC?

the score let me get rid of the first quarter of calc, but UCSC doesn't even offer the second quarter of calculus in the fall. So I had to either wait until winter, or just take 19A (they recommended I take it over again).

It defeated the purpose of taking the AP Calc AB Test. But whatever, i'm over it.
