APs senior year

Isn't taking AP classes kinda pointless senior year because you would've summited college apps before it ends?
Should I try to squeeze in all the APs before senior year and drop electives like orchestra?
Plus since AP classes are weighted at my school it helps the ranking and gpa on the apps.

well, the point in taking APs senior year is in case you want to try to earn credits for college so you can skip those level one courses your freshman year. But also, taking APs your senior year looks good on college apps - it shows you still want to challenge yourself and that you're not going to take the easy road and just cruise because its your senior year. More competitive schools want to see you taking the most challenging courses that are available to you.

What would an ivy-league applicant's senior year look like, in terms of # fo APs?

I know one person who had 12 APs (5 in all of them) and got ino Cornell, but was rejected at Harvard, and also know another perosn who had 4 APs (5 on all) and got into Yale but was rejected at Dartmouth and Columbia. Note: they were both best friends, and did everything together, so they had pretty much the same ECs too. So....i don't know what to think...

Whereas your grades don't count as much in senior year, colleges would like to see that you are challenging yourself in your last year of high school.

Colleges like to see that you are still challenging yourself senior year, thus senior AP's look great.

Also, the credit or advanced stadning you get for doing well on AP tests will be useful.

I think my schedule is typical in my school and a lot of people from my school go Ivy:
Freshman Year: No AP's
Sophomore Year: One AP
Junior Year: Three AP's
Senior Year: Two AP's

Don't think of it as "how many APs..."

Take what interests you. If you want to do it, go for it. That's the only way.

Heres my current plan
Freshman: No APs
Sophmore: 2 APs
Junior 5 APs
Senior 3 APs
But if senior APs look good, maybe I should take 4 APs senior year and take one less junior year
