APs vs. SAT IIs

Since APs and their corresponding SAT IIs are from a single source - Collegeboard - there is some similarity between the MC part of APs and SAT. But how much correlation is really there? ie. I got the following scores:

AP Lit: 4, SAT: 600
AP Calc: 4, SAT IC 750, IIC 680
AP Stats: 4, SAT IC 750, IIC 680
AP Physics B: 5, SAT 690

Do these correlate or are they completely off? For AP Lit, I write beautiful essays (on the exam got 9,8,7 as essay grades), but simply suck at MC. For Calc, I suck at MC, but can do open-ended ones with relative ease. Do colleges consider a students MC weakness vs. Open Ended qs. strength?

To me it doesn't seem like your SAT ii's match your AP's....especially for math (calc) and physics. AP Stat in not comparable to the math subject tests

Well, I fived my Biology and US History AP and ended up getting a 670 on the bio M SAT II and a 730 on the history SAT II.

AP Physics B- taking- SAT II Physics- 760
AP Chem- 5- SAT II Chem- 760
IB Math SL - 6- IIC 740
AP US History- 4 - SAT II US History 760
AP World History- 5- SAT II WH 680

APUSH - 5 -US History - 760
AP Spanish Lang - 4 - 620

US History 5, 800
English Literature 4, 740
Calculus AB 5, Math IIC first time I took (like 3 days after the AP) I got a 680, but I retested this year and got a 790.

interesting. anybody has an answer to my last question?

Hey callthecops2 how did you find out what your specific essay scores were for AP English? On my AP U.S. History exam score report it just gave me my overall grade and that was it.

Anyway U.S. History 5 and 800
Am taking AP Lit and Comp now but I got a 700 on SAT II Lit so hopefully I will do better on the AP exam.

ckmets13, i see that your SATII world history score is relatively low compared to the other SATIIs but you got a 5 on the AP. did you find the SATII World history test harder than the AP test?

how hard is the sat2 us history if you are taking/took the ap class for it?

AP biology 3, SAT II Bio-E 760

ap tests are MUCH easier than sat2s

US History SAT II is very easy if you have taken the AP class
it just tests more facts than the AP test, its more "you know it or you dont"

i think hernandez mentions something about how AP tests are much more like college exams than SAT2's

Her example is like someone who got a 5 on AP Calc, but only a 670 for SAT1 math. She basically said that she would realize that this student is actually a very strong math student, and ignore the SAT math score.

This one kills me
AP US: 5
Sat II: 690
... in my defense i took the AP last year the test in Nov... but still its pure memorization no excuse..

Bio SAT II 800, AP 5
I self studied the exam a year after the SAT II without any extra prep.

AP US History:4 >(
SAT US History: 770 :)

brassmonkey!!! my life-saver :) my SAT IIs are just so dismal more like community college material, while my APs are decent enough for ivies...just hope hernandez is right when saying APs are weighed>SAT IIs

bump...........

hmm...

US History: 4, SAT II: 650

But.... there IS a big difference between calculus and precalulus mathematics. I don't think the BC exam is comparable to ANY SAT II math test.

AB/BC exam tests introductory calculus material

SAT II Math IIC tests precalculus, trig, 3D geometry. completely different stuff

This explains why the cousin of a friend of mine who is at Harvard is taking remedial math... on the placement exam, he completely aced the calculus exam, and completely destroyed himself on the precalculus exam. ROFLMAO
