I was curious as to what APs yall ( or your kids ) have taken and your scores. Do they really effect admissions and would my over-stacking hurt me and make me look like one of those non0nterested grade grubbing kids? As a soph, I took World and got a five. This year I'm taking German, US, Lang and Comp, and Physics B and senior year I'm taking AB Calc, Econ, Physics C, Lit, and 2D Studio Design. Probably barring myself down too much but I think I can get fives on all of them ( would be amazing if I did. ). So what do yall think?

i'm just jealous that i'm going to an inky-dinky school that doesn't offer AP or IB courses.

GHD- More AP's don't hurt. It shows that you are willing to challenge yourself. The test is whather with that schedule, can you hold your grades up. If you can, even better, if you can't, it is only hurting you to stay in them. But, it sounds like you're doing fine.

Take what you want - and take all the tests and remember to figure some sleep into your plan. My kiddo is taking 5 AP senior year classes plus studying in a small group for one more AP test. My only comment .....it seems this kind of stress is what kids who want a military style education seem to thrive on. 'Tis not my cup of tea, but more power to you all who do!

And in college, I'm in Level 5 French which is 3 courses away from a Minor. Sadly, I'll have to re-take all APs if I go to USNA because seriously I got all 5s on exams they don't take and 4s on ones they do take. =(

When I went to CWV someone asked about AP scores and the USNA people said they don't accept any AP scores at all.

Yeah, you just have to hope you retained all your AP knowledge for the validation tests during Plebe Summer.

All you kiddos with 6-8 AP classes in your senior year - you are crazy, but since you already know that, you should be quite grateful for a high school that offers that many periods! Our school is quite rigid about 6 periods, one of them having to be PE. You do the math over 4 years and see how limited your number AP classes can be! Living in CA sucks for public education and how the money is spent but hey - clearly 400+ Californians come to USNA each year as competitive students so I guess I need to stop complaining.

400? That isn't possible. do you mean 40+?

ummm no, she's right. 437 members of the class of 2009 are californians. its seems just about everyone here is from california, texas, pennsylvania or new jersey.

that's amazing!!

Those of you envious about we Californians...remember, we have the same amount of Senators as the rest of you!

Yeah but you have like 48 congressmen too! Makes a big difference(not to mention the 35 million people!

Wow...thats a lot of nominations! I think there are 20 something here in the land of lincoln, but alot of them are not even used up. This year for Air Force Academy i am competiting against only 3 others (yet the naval academy used all 10 nominations from my congressman). A relative i know, NO ONE applied to their congressman for air force... gah, makes me wish i lived out there!

lol, gee i wonder why they're all applying to naptown?...

Im from MD

its pretty competitive here

I'm from Texas. I live in Katy/West Houston. The school districts top half can be valedictorians at most schools. Life sucks. But I love it!

Disclaimer: In no way do I use the excuse of "highly competitive" school districts. We all have that. I love the environment and I think that's why we all want the Academies, cause MIT just ain't hard enough. :)

i took these AP classes

AP European History
AP United States History
AP Biology
AP Calc AB
AP Chemistry
AP Government

scores on the AP tests dont matter. to add to what peskemom said san diego alone has 16-25 people per year.
