APs?

Do you guys send AP scores, too? My counselor told me to just list them on apps and send the scores later. But, it seems like some students send and report their scores to the college..

What should I do????

Thanks in advance!

I didn't send any AP scores specifically. We can't apply for credit for courses until we enroll, of course, so the only real reason for sending them now is to show the adcom that you can do well on the tests. I sent a photocopy of my AP Scholar with Honor award and listed it in the awards section.

I just listed the scores on my resume and asked my counselor to include the scores on my transcript.

I just checked with the Swattie vegging on the couch and she says, "call Swat and ask!"

She did send her AP scores, listing Swat as the freebie score report when she took the tests at the end of Junior and Senior years. She did not pay extra to send the official scores anywhere else.

I don't believe that the AP test scores play much of a role in admissions at Swarthmore, unless they are really bad. You can, however, receive credit for 4s and 5s on AP tests in certain departments. So, they have an impact on placement, distribution requirements, etc. I assume these probably require an official score report for the Registrar's Office at some point.

You don't need to send the "official" score report until you know which school you will actually attend. Then just list that one (hopefully, Swarthmore) as a recipient of your scores when you take your senior year tests.

If you think it helps show adcoms that you can handle college level work, go ahead and send the scores.

I've only taken 2 tests so far, and I didn't send the scores or even list them on my application for that matter. I have a feeling one of my recommendations, from my English teacher, probably mentioned that I got a 5, while the 2 I got on French can just remain under wraps for a long, long time :)
