APs

Ok,so how important are APs?

im talking about for a good college (not rlly ivy) but like Brandies,NYU,BU, Rutgers-HOnors: you get the drift.

IM in mostly honors classes, but school barely offers APs, so i plan on taking two Ap exams-but without the Ap courses- junior year. and plan on taking tw actual AP courses (w/ the exams obviously) senior year.

with a decent average (like 90ish) and good EC's, how bad will this hurt chances

looking for educated answers-thanks!

If your school doesnt offer that many APs it wont hurt you any. This would be indicated by your gc on a form about how demanding your schedule is. Just take the ones you can and do well on them.

that’s somewhat of a relief, but my main question which i forgot to ask was actually: is it worth it to take the AP exams (im pretty confident ill do well) but without the Ap course.

Many students do self study, I think it would be good if you think you can do well. You may also slip something like that into your app about how motivated you are i.e. since your school doesnt offer enough APs, you took it on your own.

I’d say self-studying will only be viewed positively. And since many people take an AP class without a corresponding exam, it’s preferable!

…just my two cents :)
