I got an invitation only application from Azusa Pacific University. They waive the application fee and will let me know in three weeks about my admission status. I was wondering whether or not that apolications was binding or not. It does not directly state that it is an ED type of app, but I just want to make sure.

I would ask, but I’m guessing it isn’t binding. My son goes to a feeder school for Gordon College, and he has received numerous invitation only and priority applications from there, but they are not binding. Check to be sure, though.

If it were ED, there would be a contractual component where you signed a commitment to attend. This is probably to be a marketing ploy to try and snag your attention because you are a student whose abilities indicated she would likely attend a more rigorous school.

The thinking is that if they can go ahead and get you admitted now and shmooze you a little bit, you might go ahead and attend there instead of going to a school that might be a better fit.
