I was wondering should i take both the AP US history exam and the SAT subject test in US history??? Has any on else tried this??? Did you benefit from doing so??

I took both last year. I took the SAT subject test the weekend before the AP test which was the following friday. I got a 700 on the SAT test which is a decent score. I was no where near as ready as I was for the AP test though, which I got a 5 on after cramming for the next 5 days. I would say that the SAT test is harder than the AP one but maybe I just thought that because I hadn't studied for it as much.

My friend did. She got a 4 on the AP exam and a.... 700? on the SAT Subject Exam. It's a good thing, I think, simply because you'll have a wide array of US History knowledge under your belt.

Yes, it's a good idea.

would it be better to take it in may or june?

I think it really depends. I took it in june after taking the AP exam, and I recieved a 4 on the exam and a 680 on the SAT II. I recommend that you take it in May, that way all the info will be fresh in your head. Also, I found the SAT II to ask about more obscure things, so be prepared.

I took the SAT II the week before the AP and studied through an AP prep book up until the SATII, did well, and then I didnt study for the AP and did well on it. Either order you take it, one is good practice for the other.

I took the SAT II in June... it worked just fine for me

I took the SAT in June last year - it's a LOT harder than the AP test, in my opinion. The questions were really different and seemed somewhat random. I didn't want to have to worry about it right in the middle of AP tests so that's why I waited. The material was still fresh in my mind (since final exams were the next week!). Good luck.

I'd only do it if it was your first history SAT II- my counselor told me that colleges like it if you vary your subjects. A sign of being well-rouded and all that.
I took AP World History with fanatic studying, got a 5, didn't study for the SAT II and got an 800. I thought the SAT II was easier because it didn't have essays.

I used The American Pageant, Cracking the AP US History Exam by Princeton Review, and I went to my AP teacher's study sessions to get a 720 on the subject test and a 4 on the AP test.
