Apush... :-0

first AP ever for me too. the multiple choice were surprisingly not too scary. my essays were decent, although my DBQ was shamefully organized-- i had a structure all planned out, but when i started writing, it went right out the window. not so good with timed essays...

To everyone saying that that's enough outside info, if that's addressed to me, then thanks, I feel calmer. :)
I think I did decently well on the DBQ.
For FR 4, wasn't the question 'to what extent did the role of the gov change'? My teacher taught me that whenever it's an 'to what extent' it's a 'yes...but' or 'no...but' answer. Thus, I said in the thesis that it changed a lot more domestically, and then in each topic sentence I said that it changed but also stated how it didn't change.

Yeah guys if you are worried thats ridiculous. Thats a freaking ridiculous amount of OI

ok, im worried about my essays now. i did 3 and 4. for 2 i did cult of domesticity and abolitionism, but i only talked about women abolitionists, but it showed more cause and effect that way. for TR i did world affairs (corrollary and rape of panama) and trusts (northern securities case, square deal, trust buster etc). i had a lot of analysis but there was definitely stuff i left out, like william lloyd garrison in 3 and the pure food and drug act, beef inspection act and the SC declaring the beef trust illegal all in 1906. what sort of score do you think id get on each of those?

IM FREAKING OUT...

i put the second great awakening at the "middle of the 20th century"!!!!!
Am i not getting anything over 5?

on the essay, i mean

i need at least a 6 to have any hope of even like a 4, so...

Is it necessary to analyze all of the documents in the DBQ essay? Or just a majority of them?

Thank you!

From what I remember in my prep book, it is better to anyalze and use all documents but if you don't use one it is okay.

sorry second post on here
But for the essays I did
DBQ-I am psyched about because my teacher spent so much time on populism so I was able to talk about a lot, and I feel good but still skipped one document. I may have not organized it the best but I feel solid.

With the other two free response essays I did 2 and 4
However I really believe they are not going to like my response to #2, I understand how both of the rebellions represented the transition from government, Articles of Confederation Vs Constiution but I took a really radical historian view demonstrating the fact that both systems of governance reflect the views and concerns of the white business man of the Northeast, using both rebellions as support of Beard's thesis.

I used a lot of support so whatever, this was my second AP test, last year I took AP Euro and this time around I feel much better in regards to my essays. I go to a small school and I had the same teacher from last year and i feel like he really prepared us well.

In regards to the multiple choice, the test was harder than the 2001 released exam but I think that a lot of people forgot the focus on this test was on cultural movements and events instead of economics or politics. I used REA to prep and it had a lot of good specific questions that helped me focus on how to study literature. Also, it doesn't help that in my school English 11, focuses on American literature so I read and talked about through the course of the year literature movements and styles in US history. In addition my AP Us teacher refuses to teach to the test and we read whatever he wants us to read-more US literature!

I really hope I get a five but I don't want to get my hopes up...last year I totally felt I failed-I could'nt finish a single essay but I ended up with a four-as a sophmore that is pretty good so I just hope the opposite happens for me this year. Cross my fingers!

Anyway just to end, good luck to everyone else in APUSH, don't freak out I bet you did fantastic on this test!

essay 3-
alcoholism- anti irish sentiment, tee totalism, temperance, idea of christian virtue and how alcoholism could lead to laziness and domestic abuse (no actual names though)

abolitionism- some BS about william garrison promoting equality with his liberator, african americans realize need for equality like frederick douglass; emphasis on religion in north and south.

essay 4-
conservaiton: gifford pinchot, newland reclamations act, help save the environment through conservation instead of preservation

trusts- hepburn act, trustbusting, good trusts v. bad trusts, idea of "taking away from common man" / "helping common man"... how it all relates back to progressivism

enough facts? afraid not enough examples :(... need a 5

Lemon Pop
With essay three I though you had to connect to the "cult of domesticity" it doesn't seem like you answered all parts of the question. i might be wrong I did'nt do that one. You could have talked about how William Garrison's impact on the women's suffrage movement as well.

You seem set for essay 4

essay 3 was how differnet reform movements related back to the 2nd great awakening. you could have picked from cult of domesticity, abolitionism, temperance, and something else....

am i right? i dont remember having to connect it all to cult...

if it was just 2nd great awakening, how does my essay look?

Sorry-no you are right, I got it all mixed up my friends who did it got it all screwed up and mixed up the two great awakenings.
Your free responses are well founded and supported don't sweat :)

"i put the second great awakening at the "middle of the 20th century"!!!!!
Am i not getting anything over 5?"

Goodness, calm down people!

If that's the only time you reference the time period and the rest of your imformation backing it up is correct, then you're fine. You might lose a point for that at most, and if the rest of your essay is good you could probably earn a decent point value.

Plus, don't worry about doing super well on all your essays. As long as you get significant credit on them, you can get a 5. The curves on these tests are pretty kind for the most part. You aren't expected to earn every single credit on the test, because if you were, practically nobody would be scoring 3 or above.

alchemymom:
Is it necessary to analyze all of the documents in the DBQ essay? Or just a majority of them?

According to my teacher as long as you used one more than half of the documents you are just fine! :)

Yeah, we use the half + 1 rule as well =)

I don't think that I used enough outside examples. I always think that I do... but my history teacher always thinks the opposite (w/ in-class practice DBQs).
