I think you have a chance for a 6-7 on the DBQ. I'm not sure how harsh the grading is, but you do have lots of outside info nonetheless.

Any thoughts on my DBQ? My paragraphs were all about the same length too- balanced then.

Actually, Wabash v. Illinois was bad for the farmers. Munn allowed states to regulate the railroads, but Wabash restricted the states' jurisdiction to only intrastate lines. Thus, the railroads just raised the rates of interstate lines, which was still pretty bad for the farmers.

Here was my DBQ

Technology-
-New plows and other farm items caused an increase in production, yet led to a surplus which lowered prices
-Railroads allowed for things to be shipped from western parts of the US to eastern parts (and N to S) accessibly but the raidroads charged very high prices for short-hauls and did not give rebates to farmers for the most part.

GP-
Talked about how gold standard was hated by farmers
Populists preached bimetalism and unlimited coinage of silver
This would cause inflation and help farmers pay off debts, and also create more money in the US economy which is good for farmers. (also put that populists were in favor of public ownership of railroads)

EC- Talked about how many southern blacks were forced back into "slavery" by sharecropping in the south.
Also how farmers were upset that people were starving, yet they couldnt afford railroad rates or to sell their goods at reasonable prices
Also how storms and other Natural disasters destroyed farms

Concession statement was that railroads connected isolated parts of US

How does this DBQ sound? 5/9 materal? (I gave a condensed summary)

@spikezz
So if I said that Munn was good for the farmers, is that a good thing then?
But then how did Wabash lead to the creation of the ICC?

For the FR #2...I taked about what the cult of domesticty was, but I mainly taked about how it was altered by woman-righters during the 1830s to 1840s Is that wrong? And for the DBQ, I am not sure if I used the word "technology" in my intro, but I did talk about rairoads, factories, and industrial farm products. Is that wrong too?

Sorry...you can ignore part one of my question...wrong post.

No I think you're fine on the technology. They'll probably assume that you know that railroads are technological advancements. How did you phrase it in your thesis?

I think I said that during the late 19th century policital, econmoic, (maybe social) changes and polices led to a collapse of the ag. system in America...but I definitely used Railroads (Munn v Illinois, Pacific Railroad Act, ICC) and said the industrial products gave famers a slight boost during there poverty.

I think industrial products were the things that caused the overproduction and the lowering of prices in the first place?

But its all how you argue it =D

I messed up big time, it happens to me every time I write a DBQ. I start on one side of an argument and I end up changing my mind and remembering stuff midway.

@ Wendyling- This year's DBQ was hard? Have you seen last year's? I would think compare to last years, most ppl would agree this year's was much easier.

"I think industrial products were the things that caused the overproduction and the lowering of prices in the first place?"

that's what i said in mine. . .
