APUSH Essay Percentages

Just interesting stuff for APUSH test takers this last May:

DBQ: the readers liked the DBQ. everyone generally did very well.

2: almost everyone failed this. they are curving it majorly. the average for this question was very low, like 2.5 (usually is around 3).

3: most people chose this question. people did very well, but won't get the boost.

4: only 20% of people chose this question! crazy! the people who did, though, did very well.

5: 80% of people chose this question - and some even did it first. (Before the DBQ!) Very rare in AP history. Average score was good.

Anyone else's teachers have thoughts?

how did you know this...and can you say which essays were which numbers...thanks!

A copy of the essay questions.

Seems about right. I thought I did really really well on #4 and failed #2...

hm, i thought i did well on # 2 lol guess not

I didn't take the exam, but #2 seems like a very easy question. I wonder where most of the credit was lost (specifics, perhaps?).

ya to me it was common sense, but idk

im glad i did 4. 2 was pretty vague...that's why I didn't choose it.

umm i hope u know that u were supposed to choose 2 OR 3 of part B and then 4 or 5 of Part C...there were three essays...the DBQ, Part B, and Part C

I thought they didn't curve the grades afterward? Some guy told me on this forum that the proctor was supposed to specifically read in the manual that they don't do that, and hence don't choose the harder question.

Yea, my proctor read that

I did 2 and 5. Glad to know I failed 2. :-( I didn't know they curved.

i did all odd numbers. my history teacher has been going to san antonio for the last nine years to grade essays, and number 2, he says was the lowest score he has EVER seen (average 2.5ish)

nice i did 3 and 4!

obviously ur teacher didnt grade MY #2 ;) ahaha jk i prob screwed it up horribly...its even worse when u find out u messed it up after u thought u did amazing aha....:(

3 and 4 all the way

2 and 4 :(

3 and 4, biotches...and i killed them... :)

Have you heard anything about Euro?

Euro: The DBQs were generally very long, but also very good. The one point they thought students had trouble with (for the FRQs) was stating and then maintaining a solid and clear thesis. Otherwise the scores were good.
