Hi
im interested in APUSH and thinking of taking AP this may
but since im a foreigner who've never studied UShistory before (of course i know bits about it but well not enough to say that i "know" us history :D) .. and i think i have to prepare 3 APs at the same time in 3months..

you think this is possible?
oh by the way 3 aps include: Chemistry (already took SAT2 so not a great deal), Psychology (i looked through Barrons and reading it over again) and Calculus BC (Math is not a bid deal for most of us Asians! am preparing now)

so, what you guys think about APUSH, considering that im a foreigner who have never studied us history before and that i have to study the whole thing on my own?

I would never recommend anyone to study an AP on their own...but some people feel like they can manage it. Having never studied US History may make it a challenge, but if you're interested then go for it.

Hm, its definitely possible.
Apsuh, is not that hard, and f you study like 5 hrs a week for it reading a TEXTBOOK not a study book then you should be fine. Just do practice questions weekly.

^ Yea it is, that's the company that publishes the book. I believe it's like 30$ or so elsewhere but amsco sells it for 16. 50 $. That's where i got my book from ( im not sure but i think the shipping was like 6-ish dollars. somewhere around there.

thanks you all for your replies.. but i have a problem... im not living in US now so its really hard for me to buy AMSCO book,, i can possibly order it through Amazon.com but the shipping fee will be :-( geez, instead i have REA book and TPR, KAPLAN, BARRONS all of them -- and also american people.. well can i do well even without AMSCO book but instead study with those books i already have?

It IS possible. But, because you're not a citizen who may not be as familiar with the basic history, it might be much more difficult to get into the specifics of it. From the way the AP works, majority of people who take the test get 3s--and they're Americans. Unlike Psych which is memorization as I've seen, APUSH is more about comprehension/deep thinking about the subject matter.

Just a word of caution--you really need to know American history. And you may not be able to memorize every aspect (especially if you're not familiar with it) from a textbook. Focus on your other ones--and do fantastic on those instead.

well i dont know.. i wanna have US history ap..... but yeah i guess it will be really tough.. so "trends" are important in AP rather than specifics... well i've gotta think about it then ;-( thanks for your advice :D

I have friends who were convinced they'd get 4-5s then they got 3s despite really knowing it. Really, is it worth just taking the test to say that you did it--and did terribly? Three months isn't adequate time to learn US history (in its entirety) for the first time.

^very true..in a sense that you don't quite have an overall idea of American History....social and cultural impacts/changes is a VERY MAJOR part of APUSH...or in fact any parts of American History....but if u cud really step on it...and burn the AMSCO book, and other practice tests...then, def, it IS possible to ace the Test.

well i've self studied all of my APs and SAT2s,, cuz here in my country its illegal for the school to teach APs and SAT2s except for american schools or other international schools.. so everyone in my school studies on their own.. pretty sad, right? kk and for USH, i know it will be real tough (and much tougher to prepare 4 APs at the same time) but i think it is at least worth TRYING. Anywayz i will definately take sat2 ush so i dont think it's a bad idea to prepare also for APUSH... or is it? :-( and im really sad that i cant get "the AMSCO book" here in my country...... maybe i've gotta stop playing around and burn my american people book from now on :D thanks you all!

when are you guys goin to start studying for APUSH??? i got amsco and do not really know when the best time would be. our teacher said dont start b4 spring break or else you will confuse everything.
