APUSH Junior Year

Hi, I am writing to you to ask about APUSH.
I am a straight-A student, sophomore that would really like some input as to how to ace APUSH next year.
I feel like writing DBQs are my area of weakness, even though writing essays is an area of strength for me.

But mainly I’m still bogged down on how to study for the multiple choice tests. Given that junior year I may also be busy with the SAT and ACT tests, especially prepping for the new SAT, I would like to know if there are any methods for studying for the multiple choice tests.
Specifically, I was wondering if the tests are more based on CAUSE/EFFECT relationships, WHY things happened, Analyzing a quote/excerpt and drawing conclusions based on them, or downright recall of memory (dates, people, etc.)

My school uses the American Pageant for their APUSH course, and I heard that the APUSH course has only one “good” teacher (aka lenient) the other one (which most people get, since all but one of the blocks of APUSH are taught by her) is really harsh, especially on essays.

Given this, I wanted to know how many hours (if you had the American Pageant book that would be even better) I would spend studying for an APUSH unit test (I think this is about 2-3 chapters) as well as a solid study plan for the course (break it down into days, if need be), what types of things you do to study, and how to absorb the information in the textbook. Also would dates (specific years) be considered important info for recall of memory, especially when writing an essay or filling out answers on multiple choice?

Basically I want to know how to study. Do we just read the textbook (and how many times for the knowledge to sink in), or would study guides+outlines or even flashcards? be necessary for any APUSH unit exam too?

Lastly this may differ from school to school but are the essays of the APUSH unit tests on the same day as the MC or separate days?
