APUSH- Quizzes..../DBQs

My teacher gives weekly quizzes on readings from chapters of the American Pageant... he claims that they are from past exams. What is the best way to prepare for these quizzes?

and DBQS!!! How do you successfully write one?

If you get those ****ty worksheets from American Pageant the multiple choice answers are on the internet

DBQs raped me. Use your notes, unlikely you will get caught. They’ll look like your DBQ anyway

they’re lke questions from past tests?

I get the worksheets from the Pageant. Where can I find them online?

What edition do you have?

i have 11th.

I have the 12th edition.

Take the “American Pageant” quizzes online… there are usually a couple semi-important things that aren’t explicitly stated in the text and these help you remember them.

As for the DBQ’s, I would go to the College Board website and look for old essays and how they were scored. Your teacher might do this before the first one, though. Don’t psych yourself out… there’s usually an upwards trend as you realize what is expected of you. Good luck!

[11th Edition](Bailey | American Pageant)
[12th Edition](Kennedy American Pageant 12e -- ACE Practice Tests)

The MC questions from the worksheets usually start somewhere around #15 on those quizzes

behindthelens, where do you get ur quizzes from?

bump10char… i wanna know above question as well

Buy the guidebook. I have the 13th Ed. and my teacher takes most of the questions from there.

guidebook? link please?

how do you guys like the american pageant, as a textbook?

lets keep this restricted to quizzes/dbqs for now lol

I used the same quizzes that futurexecutive posted… very helpful, imo.

If you want book notes, [AP Notes](The American Pageant AP US History Notes - 16th Edition:: APNotes.net) is amazing. I ended up printing most of these (in a very small print!) by the end of the year, highlighting main points and writing things along the margins to connect to in-class lectures.

And this is the College Board’s free response questions for practice.

Hope that helped a bit!

For any students starting this year I know you’re gonna be swamped with work but don’t be tempted to use APnotes.com or any online outlines. They suck and don’t give you any info. Cutting corners won’t get you a good grade.

In my school APUSH is in 2 installments (for some state requirements or something), USI and USII
I’m currently in USII and I’ve done well so far with diligence and doing the work right unlike last year which consisted of Cs. Currently I have an A, which I hope I can keep up for the year and then placement exam.

mmmm how to ace quizzes though?/dbqs

What pdg said is true… Make sure that you only use those as a supplement to your assigned reading. I did this alongside my teacher’s assignments and got one of the highest grades in the class and did well on the May test. I am, by no means, encouraging you to use these in the same manner as some do Sparknotes. Do your work; it’ll pay off.

DBQ’s are actually pretty easy once you learn how to do them. The trick is to realize that everything connects. Read some practice ones on the collegeboard website. Read old ones. Make connections between what you already know and what the document says. And remember to use at least 8 docs. Really you can bs your way through them…
